Paul Klee was a Swiss-German painter, printmaker, and teacher. He is considered one of the most important figures of the 20th-century avant-garde art movements. Paul Klee's paintings are best known for his highly individual style that combined elements of Expressionism, Cubism, and Surrealism. His works are characterized by their use of simple shapes, bold colors, and playful, childlike qualities. He often incorporated symbols, numbers, and letters into his work and believed that art should be a visual language that expresses emotions and ideas. He was also a teacher and had a strong influence on the development of the Bauhaus school of art and design. He died in 1940.
