Snatch - a theft of diamonds that plunges into a real mess, a cruelly wrong world of illegal boxing, a cheerful Irish gipsy and ... a dog.
The diamond thief and courier Franky Four Fingers (Benicio Del Toro) stops in London on his way to New York, where he is supposed to hand over a huge diamond to Boss Avi (Dennis Farina). During the handing over of small stones to Avi's cousin Doug The Head (Mike Reid) and other goldsmiths of the local Hatton Garden, he is tempted to take part in bets on an illegal boxing match organized by Boris The Blade (Rade Šerbedžija). He has no idea that Boris has set a trap for him - the owners of the local pawnshop Vinny (Robbie Gee) and Sol (Lennie James) will rob him and their escape driver Tyron (Ade) of the betting receiver.
Meanwhile, rookie illegal boxing promoters Turkish (Jason Statham) and his business partner Tommy (Stephen Graham) are gaining ground by battling local vicious cattle, a Boxing promoter and pig farm owner Brick Top (Alan Ford). However, when the Boxing recruit is knocked out by Mickey O’Neil (Brad Pitt), a wild Irish gipsy boxer, the boys convince him to fight in a duel instead of their boyfriend, the outcome of which was pre-arranged by Brick Top.
However, Mickey turns out to be very unreliable, and the duo finds themselves in trouble as the fearless fighter refuses to let himself be defeated in the fourth round. Luckily, the gipsy's technique and courage make a good impression on Brick Top - thus rescuing all three from the pig farm - but Mickey has to fight again - this time as he should - because Brick Top is not afraid of violence and bloodshed when he has to prove his right.
In New York, Avi is outraged by the news that Franky has been reinstated by Avi's bettors. He, therefore, flew to London with his aides. A local legend, Lead-toothed Tony (Vinnie Jones), is hired to find Franky and the diamonds. The sad fate of the diamond courier is soon revealed, and the hunt for the missing stone then causes a real madness, as things get completely out of hand. While individual parties pursue different goals, double scams pile up on top of each other - all illegal, some burqa, and most destined to end in bloodshed, pain and revenge. When all the plans go wrong and the anger flares up, the open season of hunting dogs, diamonds, trailers, boxers and various weapons begins in chaos.
Snatch began filming in October 1999 at various locations in London. According to director Guy Ritchie, this is not a sequel to his gangster film Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, in which a group of friends inadvertently become entangled with the dark underworld of drug traffickers, criminals and bullies. In Snatch, the actors belong to the underworld, but it is a London robbery with a comic plot.
